Has it really been another two years?
Wow. It has been another two years already? (Two years, one month, and two days to be exact. I meant to post it the other day so it would at least be the same day of the month as the first post, but what is two more days when it is already two years late? 😅)
You know the most ironic part of the delay? I had a post almost ready for the very next day after that first post two years ago. It was actually written as part of the first post and then I broke it off when it got too long. So yeah, a little bit of light editing and it would have been my second post.
I was planning on including that original second post here so it would still be the second post, but considering the subject matter I decided it would be better to post on its own, and let this “I’m back” post be on it’s own as well.
So why now? Just because I wanted to repeat the two year cadence? No, that was a coincidence, if you will believe it! I have done things that I want to write about, and I want to start participating in this online community instead of just hanging around on the sidelines. I’ve learned many incredible things over the years from lots of great people, and I want to start passing that forward, and sharing my own thoughts and ideas with the world as well.
Also, I had to fix my website… I had forgotten that I transferred it from a free WebPress site to a hosting service, and I didn’t realize at that time that broke my access to the WebPress admin page. This is actually not the first time I tried to reactivate my blog. I tried a few times over the last few months and couldn’t figure out what was wrong, but finally I found the issue and now I’m back! It feels a bit embarrassing as a software engineer to admit that I have no idea how this WebPress things works, but normally I work at the lowest levels where software meets the hardware and I’ve more or less ignored the web space. Well, time to change that too, and learn how to participate in this World Wide Web thing.
Growing up we had previous gen computers and dial up, so networking and web technologies weren’t exactly something that caught my curiosity. I mostly preferred taking computers apart and figure out how they worked inside, not figuring out what to do with them.
So here I am, back again, and to stay this time. I can’t promise any specific cadence, but I hope to post at least once a month, and perhaps even once a week, with things I’ve been thinking and working on. I am already doing odds and ends, and having imaginary debates about things in my head, so why not take a minute and write my thoughts down? I’ve found countless blog posts that answered some random question I have had over the years, maybe something I’ve done can answer your questions too.
See you around!
